Artist Bio - Tony Loeffler
Technically a photo simply captures images of real situations.
“I think of what I do as seeing something special in the ordinary and manipulating that image to make it interesting to view. Often just taking unusual photographs can do this, other times advanced skills are needed. Having learned some classical painting techniques from my mother and photographic processes from my father I have attempted to translate those lessons to my own photography experiences. Sometimes using technical methods to manipulate and other times it’s an emotional feeling that I anticipate will transfer to the viewer. “
Tony became interested in photography in his early teens in the north woods of Upper Michigan and was drawn into the magic of the darkroom. After studying photography and art he took off to travel the country visiting the 50 states. In order to fund his passion he earned a degree in Cardiopulmonary Technology and practiced at San Diego’s Children’s’ Hospital where he was also able to use his photography skills in many medical publications.
Eventually his interests were drawn into the computer field and wrote several software program eventually becoming a Network Engineer and putting aside his photography while raising a wonderful family.
Now Tony has the time to start again, this time without the need for a darkroom and so has spent the last couple of years bringing his photography skills up to the digital age. His finds this exciting and thankful for his well-rounded skill set.
The images on this site are the result of selecting and enhancing a few of his favorite recent images. They are purposely aimed to show some of the interesting perspectives and beauty that can often be over looked by anyone. Tony hopes that these few images can invoke some appreciation of his view of The Art of the Photo.
