Artist Bio - Ron Ham I worked at the Exhibition of Photography at the San Diego County Fair for seven years, three as coordinator of the annual exhibit, one of the largest in the western United States
But my interest in photography began in college, when I took two black-and-white photo classes as a journalism student at Cal Poly Pomona.
I worked for 31 years in print media, first as reporter and photographer at weekly papers, then as page designer at local weeklies and dailies, and finally as a city editor at the San Diego Union and the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Since I retired I’ve enjoyed hiking local parks, lagoons and beaches looking for images of wildlife and water sports. I also like walking urban areas seeking street and architecture shots, and travelling in search of more exotic photos.
I have been a member of the PhotoArts Group for nearly ten years. My photos have hung in venues throughout the San Diego region, including Escondido Municipal Gallery, Encinitas City Hall, Spanish Village, Vista Wellness Center, and Mission Trails Regional Park. They have also been published in the Travel section of the Union-Tribune.
I have judged at the San Diego County and Orange County fairs and for several local photography clubs.
I live in Encinitas with Edie, my wife of 33 years. We have two grown kids.
